2020 Road Construction Updates

The Village will be reconstructing 127th Street (including the Community Building Parking Lot) from Frontier Park to Ruby Avenue.  This project will include removal of the asphalt surface, water valve upgrades, storm sewer catch basin upgrades and sewer main lining.  This project will begin on May 11, 2020 and will take approximately 120 days. The Village has retained Stark Pavement Corporation as the contractor for this project.

There are a few important items we want you to be aware of;

  1. There will be no on-street parking on 127th starting on May 8, 2020 until the project has been completed. If you park on 127th street you will have to park on a side street (east of 127th St) and walk to your home.  Violations of the no-parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed.
  2. We expect that you will have access to your driveway throughout the project. The only exceptions will be when asphalt is being removed in front of your driveway, asphalt is being poured in front of your driveway, or if any utility upgrades will be taking place in front of your driveway. In these cases, the disruption will be temporary.
  3. The project will be happening in phases as to minimize the impact on residents. A phasing map can be viewed here.  These time frames are tentative and weather dependent.
  4. The Village will have a construction update blog on our website, butlerwi.gov. Please check this page, our e-newsletter, and our social media accounts for regular updates on the progress of the project.
  5. The road will be open for traffic from the time the asphalt is removed until the time in which the new asphalt surface will be poured. Please use extreme caution when traveling on the gravel road.  Avoid all barrels, cones, and construction materials.  Again, there is no on-street parking on 127th during this project.
  6. During the removal of asphalt, it is expected that the process will create dust. The contractor will take every precaution to minimize the dust as much as possible. This dust is not harmful to you, your family, or your property.
  7. Work will begin at 7 am and end by 7 pm, Monday- Friday with an occasional Saturday.

Garbage and Recycling Collection

Garbage and recycling will still be collected by Johns Disposal as usual.  We have asked Johns to collect 127th Street first thing each Monday morning for the duration of the project.  To avoid a missed collection, please place you totes out for collection Sunday evening.  DO NOT PLACE TOTES IN THE ROAD. Place your totes in the grass near your driveway apron.

Brush Collection

Butler DPW will still collect brush on the 1st and 3rd weeks of each month for the duration of the project.  DO NOT PLACE BRUSH IN THE STREET. Place all brush in the grass near the curb in front of your home.

July 23 Update

ANOTHER and hopefully final update to the road paving schedule!

The machine needed to mill the intersections became available today. Therefore Stark will be preparing the intersections for final paving THIS AFTERNOON (7/23/20).

Stark will paving the final layer of asphalt TOMORROW (7/24/2020). The process will look and take place exactly like yesterday’s binder layer.

It would be appreciated if you could avoid driving or parking on 127th Street, North of Hampton until Saturday.

Thank you for your understanding to the multiple schedule changes and cooperation throughout this project!

July 22 Update

Paving of the community lot began this morning. We expect that the entire paving limits (127th Street, North of Hampton and Community Building parking lot) will be paved with the first binder layer of asphalt by the end of today.
You will be able to drive on the surface within an hour or two of it being poured. If you need to ensure you have access to leave at any point throughout the day, please park on an East/West side street, East of 127th Street. If you leave your car on the street overnight, you do not need a parking permit, but must still abide by alternate side parking regulations.
The final surface paving has been pushed until next week Thursday (7/30/2020) due to the unavailability of the equipment needed to mill the intersections.
Work on storm sewer upgrades on 127th Street, South of Hampton are slated to being the week of August 3.

July 20 Update

Stark Asphalt is working on grading the community building parking lot and 127th Street today. Cornerstone will be in performing manhole adjustments this afternoon and tomorrow (7/21/20).

Weather dependent, Stark expects to lay the first layer of asphalt (binder) on Thursday (7/23/20). If you need to readily leave your home, we suggest parking on a East/West side street to ensure you have access when you wish to leave. There are no long term access restrictions planned.

The final layer of asphalt my be laid on Friday (7/24/20) or early in the week of 7/27/20.

July 15 Update

Excavation of the asphalt roadway has been completed.  Crews will be working to remove the gravel base of soft spots along the project area this week.   Weather dependent, new asphalt surfacing should be installed sometime the week of July 20.

July 13 Update

Asphalt removals will begin today on 127th Street, North of Hampton.  Removal and grading work will take the entire week.

July 6 Update

WE Energies has completed their gas main and service installation on 127th Street, North of Hampton Ave.   They will now begin work on 127th Street, South of Hampton Ave from Glendale to Arden.   WE Energies work on the North Side of Hampton Ave has delayed the road construction project approximately 2 weeks.

The storm sewer upgrades have been competed.  Curb and sidewalk replacements will be taking place this week.

June 1 Update

WE Energies will be replacing the gas main and residential gas services on 127th Street from Eggert to Glendale. This work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 8 on the North side of Hampton. The work is scheduled to take 8-10 days and will consist of directional drilling underground and installing the new main.

WE Energies will be making direct contact with affected customers on 127th Street regarding installing new gas services. Please respond to WE Energies ASAP regarding this as to keep the project moving so that the Village may keep our road project moving.
