The Village of Butler Police Department is accepting applications to fill a current vacancy and to establish an eligibility list to add a position to the department later this year. We are a small department that works as a team to provide the Village with outstanding professional police service and strive to make our work environment enjoyable. The Butler Police Department currently consists of 9 sworn officers in 2023 and 1 civilian employee. All members of the Butler Police Department are fully supported by the citizens, as they just overwhelmingly voted in favor of adding an officer to the department. The Village of Butler Police Department provides a lateral transfer program that includes current pay and vacation considerations for current, full time, sworn officers. All out of pocket insurance deductibles are reimbursed to the employee. Training opportunities are highly promoted and officers can join multi-jurisdictional teams, including SWAT, Major Incident Unit, and a Civil Disturbance Unit. The current contract provides a 10-hour schedule, working 4/2-4/4, every other weekend off, including the same 2 days off every week. Top pay after 4 years is $82,685 (3%) in 2023. Overtime opportunities exist, however mandatory overtime on scheduled off days are rare.
